Climate Change Resilience

Building adaptive capacity and deploying climate-smart solutions to protect vulnerable communities.

Climate change disproportionately affects rural and peri-urban communities in Kisumu County. Our Climate Change Resilience program builds adaptive capacity by promoting climate-smart agriculture, soil conservation, and land restoration. We equip communities with practical tools and knowledge to withstand erratic weather, protect their livelihoods, and contribute to carbon sequestration through sustainable land management practices.

Objectives

Strengthen community adaptive capacity to climate shocks
Promote climate-smart agricultural practices
Restore degraded land and improve soil health
Reduce vulnerability of smallholder farmers to climate variability
Build knowledge on climate change mitigation and adaptation

Activities

Micro-agroforestry initiatives for carbon sequestration
Training on climate-resilient crop selection and cultivation
Soil conservation and terracing workshops
Land restoration projects on degraded sites
Community education on climate change adaptation strategies
